What’s the Deal With The Stories? (Updated!-I knew I couldn’t stay away!)

In Frayed Connections, Misc., Should I Even Be Talking About This? on August 12, 2012 at 2:37 pm

For anyone who cares, I have decided to take a mad run at my 60s-80s stories, finish them up once and for all, put them into book form. The details  are many and boring, and mostly up in the air. I will say this: I need to tie it up and get ‘down and dirty’  and I am not comfortable posting sex and drug stuff in a place where family and distant acquaintances will read it. Look- it’s not like I’m writing about shooting up or prostitution, or even close….It’s just that things were very different in the 70s and 80s than they are now. We seem to be in the grips of an almost pilgrim-like, politically correct, extremely polarizing time right now, and I have friends and family on both sides of the fence, all of whom I respect, and would like to remain close to. Once it’s printed up-well, say what you will!

Therefore, I’m going to try and get to a place where it can all be in print, and then worry about the reaction. In the meantime I’ll just post what I’m comfortable with. As any struggling writer knows- reactions- good or bad- at least mean someone is reading it. I want to thank everyone and anyone who’s read my stuff-I hope you will keep reading- and I’ll keep posting stuff- just not the deeply R rated stuff- which is why some stories seem to just stop on a cliff- and then- nothing. Trust me- there’s more to that story!! I’m not purposely messing with your head- I swear.

I finally traced my ancestry on Ancestry.com!! Just what I thought!

  1. Lisa this is exciting! Good luck on accomplishing your dream to publish a book. Look forward to reading it.

    • Thank you! I’m psyching myself up to take the blows of rejection letters. I decided to put up a cork-board in my office to display them. I’m hoping they will lose their power through humor…..which is easy to say now!

  2. I am glad you are back… the world is a much happier place for me going on my Google Reader and reading your posts – whether it be stores of years past or rants on Football, aspects of human nature, or Sons of Anarchy. I know the time and energy that needs to go into a psudo-memoir as a separate entity is a bear (grrrrr…). Keep up the great work and I am glad you have decided to stay on the blogosphere (for now)!
